The magnificent seven
In Antoine Fuqua magnificent seven , Steve Neales theory of repetition and difference is shown when the scene shows a desert like scenery and all the characters are dressed in the iconic cowboy outfit, including the hats and the holsters, this is done to fit the element of the genre and to portray how cowboys dressed, this is creating the repetition, then the following scene shows a Chinese ethnicity young male challenging a american man to a duel, this creates some diversity and originality towards the movie, this is done by Fuqua to give the common cowboy genre movie a twist, this allows the movie to be more interesting as it has not been seen before.
the following scene shows the viewer lots of stereotypical white Americans applauding the older white Ameircan ethnicity male, while he says "come on boys" suggesting there is some sort of segregation towards the younger Chinese male.
this is also done by Fuqua to build tension and foreshadowing to when the two characters have a duel to the death, at this point lots of the cowboys have come around the duel to also build tension, on what is going to happen next, as the two men turn around the gun shot is let off and the Asian man uses a knife instead of a bullet putting him at a a large disadvantage, however this is done by Fuqua as it shows steve neaes theory by making hte iconic duel scene much more diverse, this is as it would make no sesne to use a knife at a gunfight however by doing so it allows the viewer to understand that the movie has a twist, making it more entertaining for the viewer as they are unsure on what is to happen next.
steve neals theory has been implemented by Fuqua to give a modern and more unique take making the text more enjoyable as the outcome to what may happen is more a mystery, furthermore, Fuque has implemented well is he has kept all the familiar scenes in which viewers would enjoy such as a duel off, as it is so iconic to a western movie but has also given his own unfamiliar orchestrated element.
in my opinion, steve neals theory has been implemented by Fuqua very effectively by entising cowboy, western fans and whilst making the movie some way of original.
